Growin' and Greenin' up

Just thought I'd share some pictures of how things are growing around here. I love spring. It doesn't last very long here in the desert. I love watching the ground wake up after winter. We had a pretty cold winter, and a very dry winter.
The guys finished planting barley and oats a couple of weeks ago, and now things are starting to turn green.

Theses pictures are of the barley fields near our house.  Aren't the  mountains awesome in the background?

Our peach trees are loaded with blooms this year. Hopefully we'll get some peaches!

 Our trees are starting to leaf out and our grass is starting to grow! I can push our hammock back under here and enjoy the shade and breeze for a little while  before it gets really hot.

And here is one of my rosebushes, starting to leaf out. I can't wait for roses and their sweet smells. I am looking forward to watching the crops grow from our porch, and smelling the alfalfa after it's cut and baled. That's what's growing around here!

Field Trip

Last Tuesday we took the girls to the Children's Museum in Tucson. It was a first time experience for all of us. I think the girls liked it....

There were lots of other rooms as well. The girls liked the sea room, the music room, and the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs were neat because they would move. When we first went in, the girls were afraid, but then begged to go back and see them again. Fun field trip.....

Seven Months and a First

Today, March 5, 2011, our baby turns 7 months old. How quickly the time goes!

In other related news, Landon experienced his FIRST oreo cookie yesterday.......

and I think he LOVED it.....

Can't wait to see what he does with his first birthday cake!

Snow in the desert

Sunday morning I woke up, as usual, around 6:30 a.m. Landon was up, so I got him and crawled back into bed to feed him because I hadn't been feeling well. I heard the girls get up and run down the hall into the kitchen. They ran back the hall into our room, burst through the door and gleefully shouted, "It's snowing! It's snowing!" Nate drew back the curtain, and sure enough, it was snowing in the desert!

Of course, out here, most snowfall is gone by lunchtime. This day was no different. But it was fun to stand at the kitchen sink and look out the window at the falling snowflakes. And the girls enjoyed the brief time they could run outside and catch snowflakes on their tongues!
